WHAT TO INCLUDE ON YOUR WEBSITE |
| |
Deciding what to have on your website can be complicated.
There are so many possibilities you may find yourself easily distracted. It is
very important to fix a business objective for your website and to keep focused.
Possible types of website you can have are: Brochure Website
A brochure website would be reflective of your "offline" brochure, providing
information on your company, your services, products etc. It should be reflective
of your business image as it is very important that potential and current customers
can identify your business through your website. E-commerce Website
An e-commerce website will allow you to sell your products or services to people
on the internet. Normally you will require a shopping basket and online payment
to be integrated into you website. An important decision to make with e-commerce
websites, is whether you would like to create a seperate "online" brand,
or, adapt your "offline" brand image to the website. Whatever choice
is made, it is very important that you have a strong brand image. Database
Driven Website If you regularly require your websites content to be updated,
then it is a good idea to have a database driven (also known as dynamic) website.
This type of website would enable you to change information on your website on
a regular basis without incurring additional costs from your designer. This type
of website is often useful for estate agents and recruitment agencies.
With your objective in mind you need to consider what pages you would like to
have. Common pages for businesses to have on a website are:
- Home Page
- Services
- About Us
- Contact Us
- Terms
& Conditions
- FAQ
You could also consider having a news page,
a links page or even an online newsletter! Once you have decided on
your pages, you need to discuss with your web designer how you are going to link
them all together. Your designer should help you put in place a navigation system
- the navigation system should be easy to use, so that even the most novice internet
user can find their way around your website. If you would like further
advice on what to put on your website please contact us on 01793 484315 and we
will be happy to help.
